objective

Church Music Ministry Position

Since I became a Christian as a teenager, I have had the dream of leading music in the church, with as big a choir as possible.  That dream continues, and I have been able to work in church music situations both large and small.  I believe that music, especially when paired with a meaningful text, has an extraordinary ability to reach deeply into the hearts of people and touch their lives in a powerful way.  Not only can music prepare people’s hearts to hear the message of the pastor, it can also lead them into life-changing experiences and draw them close to the Savior.  I really want to be involved in making a positive impact on lives through the medium of music and other arts.  I have experience in traditional music ministry, and love and respect many hymns and 19th-20th century gospel songs.  However, I also enjoy working with a praise team and worship choir, blending what I believe to be the best music of our time (i.e. Tommy Walker, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman) with the great music of the church’s tradition.  I would be happy to share some of my recent worship plans.

I believe the ministry of music in the church has at least three purposes.  It should lift up and exalt the Lord, it should edify and equip the church, and it should be a means for the church to reach out and evangelize the community – exalting God, edifying the church and evangelizing the community.  I hope to continue to be involved in a church that is serious about doing just that.
